Speak Arabic like locals, not textbooks. Real Arabic for real conversations

On a Monthly Basis

Learning the Dialect

Available All Year
If your goal is to learn Levantine Arabic and actually use it in daily conversations, this course is built for that purpose. Unlike traditional programs that focus only on formal Arabic, this course helps you understand how people really speak in Jordan and across the Levant region.
The focus is on colloquial Arabic, so you can communicate naturally in real situations like shopping, traveling, meeting people, or living in an Arabic-speaking environment. From day one, you will practice speaking and listening in a way that feels practical and relevant.
About This Course
The Levantine Arabic course at AlBaher Arabic Language Center is designed to help learners move beyond theory and start using Arabic in everyday life. The lessons are built around real-life situations, common expressions, and natural conversations used in Jordan.
Our Levantine Arabic in Real Life program is designed to teach Ammiyya, the Jordanian spoken dialect, which is essential for effective daily communication and real-life interactions.
For those who want an intensive learning experience, the course is also offered as part of our Summer Intensive Program, which lasts for 8 weeks. During this program, students learn both Jordanian Ammiyya and Modern Standard Arabic (MSA / Fusha), providing a comprehensive approach to Arabic that combines formal and spoken language skills. Classes are giving students direct exposure to the language in its natural environment.
We also focus on cultural immersion. Our instructors actively discuss Jordanian customs, traditions, history, and society with students, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the country. We encourage students to ask questions and engage in conversations about the differences between Middle Eastern and Western cultures, which enhances their learning experience and helps them navigate real-life interactions with confidence.
You will learn how to understand spoken Arabic, respond confidently, and interact with locals in a smooth and natural way. The course uses a mix of guided lessons, conversation practice, and real-life examples to make learning easier and more effective.
Who Should Take This Course?
This course is ideal for learners who want practical communication skills, not just grammar rules. It is suitable for:

Pre-Intermediate Level: Building Fluency and Real-Life Communication
At this level, students use the Alef Baa book alongside additional writing exercises and custom alphabet charts that provide extra reinforcement. These exercises include activities such as keeping personal journals, reading them aloud in class, and encouraging classmates to identify and correct errors. This interactive approach helps students improve both their speaking and comprehension skills while building confidence in using the Arabic language.
After completing the Yalla Nadros Arabi textbook and the Alef Baa book, students gain the ability to speak, read, and write in Arabic, which prepares them to advance to the Pre-Intermediate level. At this stage, the focus shifts to improving fluency, listening, reading, and writing skills. Students begin using Arbiyyat Al-Naas (Part One), a carefully selected textbook that integrates Modern Standard Arabic (MSA / Fusha) with Levantine Arabic, with special attention to the Jordanian dialect.
Arbiyyat Al-Naas is a comprehensive Arabic-as-a-foreign-language program designed to reflect how native speakers use Arabic. The book includes 21 units, two glossaries, a grammar index, video clips, and a companion website, and comes with a DVD containing audio materials. The first two units review content from the previous books, making it an excellent starting point for this new phase. Units 3 to 21 gradually introduce more complex language through videos, reading materials, and interactive activities, targeting the development of the four core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Culture is an integral part of the curriculum. Students learn about Arab geography, cities, and customs, and experience cultural immersion through the stories of Emily, the main character in the video clips. Emily interacts with native Arabic speakers of different ages and backgrounds—airport officials, hotel staff, restaurant employees, taxi drivers, roommates, family, and friends—providing students with authentic examples of language use in daily life.
This level is designed to be completed in approximately 90–100 classroom hours. Students are encouraged to actively participate and communicate in class. To reinforce speaking skills, instructors create role-playing scenarios where students practice real-life interactions, allowing them to apply their knowledge while receiving guided feedback. This hands-on, interactive approach helps learners develop confidence, fluency, and practical language skills.
